About If I went to a Police academy at one place, can I work in another

If I went to a Police academy at one place, can I work in another?
I was wondering if I went to a police academy at one place, can I work in another? Example: police academy for LAPD, work in Dallas So basically everyones saying that each state has it's own laws, so one would have to go through their specific police academy in order to learn their laws and be certified to work as a law enforcement officer.... ? Well what about another police academy in the same state, but just another town?

maybe and maybe not depends they might want u to work for LAPD for at least 2 years then u can just transfer to dallas

The majority of what you do as a police officer is enforce state and local law. The laws vary between the states, so you will still have to be certified in the new state. Some departments such as Seattle PD offer an abbreviated form of their academy for transfers with experience, but you will still have to attend some training. A transfer to a different deparment in the same state may be easier but some still require you to attend their academy.

depends if the academy is recognized by the other department as acceptable. if you work for LAPD and do a transfer (which some departments dont allow) im not sure if you would have to take the academy again. Example- if i wanted to go through my college and take the police academy and pay for it my self, (Chicago area) i could and that same academy offered by my college is accredited the same as the suburban departments, i wont have to go in to it again. however, since Chicago PD's academy is different, i would have to retake their academy in order to work for them.

LAPD now forces you to sign a 5 year contract. So if you go to LAPD academy, they own you for 5 years. I just signed the papers. But on a more general answer: If you betray a city and try to work somewhere else, it will look very very bad in your background investigation. The background investigator will CERTAINLY call your academy. Your academy will be happy tell him that you're a traitor.

some departments will take lateral transfers but usually only if you worked full time for so many years. It depends on what the state will authorize as approved training, if they were to authorize your academy training and allow for the transfer you would still have to go through a smaller academy to learn their state laws, city laws, and local department procedures for bigger departments. Most big city departments will require you to go through their academies either way. Just depends on state requirements, and preference of the department. You will have to check with each individal department you are interested in.

There is no such thing as a work permit. The only exception to this is if you are not from the US, in which case your parents know how to apply for a work visa (not a "permit"). Businesses can only hire you if you are legal to work in the US. If you are foreign, you must apply for a work visa. If you are legal to work in the US, you must know that many companies have a policy not to hire minors. You will have your best bets at employment at grocery stores. Most jobs historically filled by minors (ie, fast food) are now occupied by illegal workers.

They are looking for a school permit. Go to your principal's office. It's kind of silly for summer work but if you continue into the school year you must have one.
