Where should i work at age 16, in Dallas, Tx? Wages, entertainment, skills for later in life, etc. Thanks?
I am 16, in dallas. I want to get a job, and people have told me its miserable if I get one during the school year; is this true? Either way, where are some good places to work? Thanks

your 16 people arent going to be hiring much just because you so young and not out of high school yet.. maybe like a someplace in the mall or like a grocery store or something? or maybe put out an ad in the paper and u can babysit

Your options are limited because of tax reasons, being under 18... But you could try grocery stores (I was a bagger/stocker around your age) or a movie theater... Or a ticket-taker at theater/sport events.. Or temp work for the holidays.. could include things like being a giftwrapper guy at Borders or other stores that have wrappers on-site.. Didn't your name indicate an interest in soccer? Why not check with Dallas' soccer club (FCDallas?) and see if they need waterboys or something-? There must be a soccer equivalent to being one of those basketball guys who mops up the floor after a player falls... Maybe get two friends together and you three could put an ad in your church bulletin or something... extra hands for odd jobs ..?

About dallas Texas can any of you recommend a great flower shop

Dallas Texas can any of you recommend a great flower shop?
I now work in Dallas and I like to buy flowers for all the ladies in my family often. I work around 75 and Lemmon. I've Google some places, but didn't get a big turn out. I'm a bit sketchy to some. So hopefully some locals can give me some great ideas or locations! Thanks

About what companies in the Dallas area will give you insurance if you work part time

What companies in the Dallas area will give you insurance if you work part time?
I am trying to find a company that will give you insurance if you work part time in the Dallas area. Even if you have to pay 100% then its still worth it for me. I have a current condition to where I cannot get insurance on my own. The only way I can is thru employment. Then they cannot deny me. I do not need to work and dont want to work full time, so can someone tell me where I can find a part time job with insurance benefit? Thank you!

all of them if you have the money

I don't know what kinda of job you are looking for but, I know that Starbucks offers insurance and other benefits for part time workers. Below is other items you get. Good luck on the job search. Employees who work full time or part time (generally 20 hours or more per week) may participate in a variety of programs, and make choices based on individual needs and interests. Depending on job and a partner's personal situation, a partner̢۪s total pay package may include: Progressive Compensation Package Healthcare Benefits (Medical, Prescription Drugs, Dental and Vision) Retirement Savings Plan Stock Options and Discounted Stock Purchase Plan Income Protection Plan (Life and Disability Coverage) Management Bonus Plan Adoption Assistance Plan Domestic partner benefits Referral programs and support resources for child and eldercare Discounted Starbucks merchandise And of course, all partners get a pound of coffee each week.
3 :
Any company that has an insurance benefit should let you pay to join their group insurance. I think though there is a pre-existing exclusion for a number of years for most insurance.
4 :
Have you tried applying with one of the many banks in town. Try Chase, Wells Fargo, Capital One, etc. They generally prefer hiring part time employees for such jobs as tellers.

About should I work in Dallas or San Antonio after I graduate this December with a degree in Marketing

Should I work in Dallas or San Antonio after I graduate this December with a degree in Marketing?
I cant decide where I want to work/live. I am FROM dallas, but currently I LIVE in san antonio because of school. I cant decide whether to go back to dallas or stay here and hopefully find a good paying job here. I also cant decide whether I want to work for a marketing firm or a "fortune 500" company with a marketing department.. All of my family is in dallas, but my current girlfriend's family lives down here. She says she will follow me and go whereever I go. I am leaning toward dallas because of the opportunities to get with a major company, but I am looking for some opinions. Please Respond!!! Thanks in advance!

Keep your true love near her family and stay in San Antonio..

I was in SA this past Jan. and learned that they are one of the only cities in the nation that have had a growing economy recently. that says something. It really depends on what you want - SA is VERY different than Dallas. Size, demographics, lifestyle, etc... Think about what kind of environment you would like to work at and what kind of environment you thrive in (small vs. large mkt dept.) Where would you have a more comfortable lifestyle that would give you the opportunity to save for the future? You are just starting. My suggestions would be to stay in SA to start your career and down the line, when you have gained some experience, make the move to Dallas (if you still want to do that). Dallas is a bigger city with more competition. Congratulations on your graduation! Good luck.

Find the job first. Trust me, you won't care where you live if you hate your job (and vice versa).
