Irving, or near the Galleria.

You might want to consider living in one of the outer suburbs of Dallas such as Irving, Las Colinas, or maybe The Colony. Each of those areas is close to either 635 or Northwest Highway (Loop 12) and you can take both of those routes to the Walnut Hill Lane / 75 area. You can also take Walnut Hill westbound to the outer suburbs. You would expect a commute of 30-35 minutes into Dallas, but you would only be 30-45 minutes away from your family in Fort Worth, depending on where they live. However, keep in mind 635 and 75 are unpredictable during morning rush hour if you want to travel by interstate. Good luck!

There is no good place "considering the traffic." Dallas has horrible traffic. I guess Arlington is a good half way point.

You're out of luck. There is no good halfway point when you and your family are on opposite sides of a six-million person metroplex. If traffic is your biggest concern, you might want to try living north of the DFW airport, perhaps in Grapevine. The exact halfway point between you and them puts you in middle of the most horrendous driving in the mid-cities area. The only way to avoid it is to go north of it, or south of it. Neither is convenient.

What side of Ft. Worth? If your family is on the Northside, then anywhere west - Coppell or Grapevine in particular - would be half way for you. Both of these communities have good schools. South Ft. Worth is tougher - Cedar Hill or the nice areas in Oak Cliff in Dallas (Sylvan Ave., Kessler Park) might be a good choice for you.
